Japanese Beech - Forest (fagus crenata)
Native to Japan where it is used extensively for bonsai. Has 2"x1" wide foliage that is more oval than the European Beech. The foliage turns brown in autumn and remains on the tree until spring when new growth pushes off the leaves. The smooth grey-white bark is typical of other beeches. |
